STEM Education Specialist

Project Description

R_Ignite NPC in South Africa has requested the support of a Peace Corps Response Volunteer (PCRV) to serve as a STEM Education Specialist. R_Ignite is in the process of improving the Viedgesville Senior Primary School infrastructure and facilities. This includes adding a Science and Technology laboratory in order to bridge the digital divide and ensure that STEM subjects are fully integrated into primary school teaching.

The PCRV will complement the local teachers by bringing unique skills that are currently lacking and help in capacitating the local teachers and children. The Volunteer will also motivate and get teachers and children excited about STEM subjects by instilling both interest and proficiency in STEM subjects.

Please note that departure dates and other details of this project could change because of the uncertainties as Peace Corps and local partners resume volunteer operations. Candidates selected for this position will be arriving in South Africa together as a group, so while the departure dates for the whole group could change, dates cannot be changed for individual candidates.
