Project Description

Two Regional Youth Center Coordinators with experience in project management and a bachelor’s degree in management, social sciences, multimedia communications, marketing, fashion and garment construction, or economics are needed to work with Janjangbureh Youth Centre and Bakoteh Skill and Garment Construction Centre as part of the Gambia Youth Empowerment Project (YEP), implemented by the International Trade Centre (ITC). YEP is a five year (2017-2022) project aimed at tackling the economic root causes of irregular migration through development of employability skills and creation of employment opportunities for youth (15-35). Each center also hosts health-related activities and can also be a guidance and counseling center for youth, as well as provide sexual and reproductive health (SRH) services within communities. The support of two Peace Corps Response Volunteers (PCRVs) has been requested to support each of the sites with the management and coordination of activities and sustainable operations. Each PCRV will work separately with either Janjangbureh Youth Centre or Bakoteh Skill and Garment Construction Centre.

The PCRVs will work with the center coordinator and other management staff on center operations, development of record keeping templates and documents, and training staff on program development methods and customer relationship management. The PCRVs will also support the coordination of center activities and provide training to youth and other partners. The overall goal of the assignment is to support each center to develop sustainable operations and youth-friendly programs.

Please note that departure dates and other details of this project could change because of the uncertainties as Peace Corps and local partners resume volunteer operations. Candidates selected for this position will be arriving in The Gambia together as a group, so while the departure dates for the whole group could change, dates cannot be changed for individual candidates.
