Primary School English Education Specialist
Project Description
R_Ignite NPC in South Africa has requested the support of Peace Corps Response Volunteers (PCRVs) to serve as a Primary School English Education Specialist. R_Ignite has identified lack of English proficiency in both teachers and children is a huge challenge in rural schools. R_Ignite aims to address this challenge and support Viedgesville Senior Primary School by bringing new skills and support to teachers.
The PCRVs will work alongside local teachers by bringing different teaching methods and unique skills that are currently lacking and support English learning for children in their early school years. Since English is not a home language in Viedgesville, the PCRVs will also offer tutoring lessons to small groups and build the confidence of students in communicating in English. The PCRVs will also prepare joint lesson plans and contribute to a fun and innovative teaching and learning experience for teachers and children.
Please note that departure dates and other details of this project could change because of the uncertainties as Peace Corps and local partners resume volunteer operations. Candidates selected for this position will be arriving in South Africa together as a group, so while the departure dates for the whole group could change, dates cannot be changed for individual candidates.
