Occupational Therapy Specialist

Project Description

The AO Alianța Creștină “Moldova Fără Orfani” (ACMO) in Moldova has requested the support of a Peace Corps Response Volunteer (PCRV) to serve as an Occupational Therapy Specialist. ACMO’s mission is to see vulnerable children in safe and loving families and a Moldovan society moving towards family-based care. AO ACMO at the moment has identified two major challenges for which they have requested support: 1. A lack of up to date, hands-on resources and documents to help the work of the professionals in the field of occupational therapy in Moldova; 2. Another strong need is to strengthen the capacity of the existing occupational therapist in Moldova and to bring new ideas and best practices in working with children and youth in Moldova.

The PCRV will support the local team in developing an assessment tool for evaluating the patient’s physical, communication and cognitive skills and a guiding book for family members and carers in the field of proper care and support for a person with special needs. The PCRV will also support the team in reviewing the existing classroom/day centers for children with disabilities and in developing recommendations of proper equipment needed for the classroom/day centers.

Candidates selected for this position will be arriving in Moldova together as a group. While the whole group's departure dates could change, dates cannot be changed for individual candidates.
