Library Capacity Strengthening Specialist

Project Description

R_Ignite NPC in South Africa has requested the support of a Peace Corps Response Volunteer (PCRV) to serve as a Library Capacity Strengthening Specialist. R_Ignite is in the process of improving the infrastructure and facilities of Viedgesville Senior Primary School. This includes adding a library which will help to inculcate a culture of reading in order to improve literacy. R_Ignite has identified a need for support to help set up and manage a library, and to establish all library-related activities.

The PCRV will complement the local teachers by bringing unique skills that are currently lacking and help in capacitating the local teachers and children. The PCRV will support the development a school library by creating library spaces and building capacity, training local teachers and transferring skills in library activities.

Please note that departure dates and other details of this project could change because of the uncertainties as Peace Corps and local partners resume volunteer operations. Candidates selected for this position will be arriving in South Africa together as a group, so while the departure dates for the whole group could change, dates cannot be changed for individual candidates.
