Project Description

A Peace Corps Response Volunteer (PCRV) with a Master's Degree in Computer Science or other related field, three years’ experience in the field of information technology, and three years’ experience in database SQL programming and web technologies is needed to serve as an IT Specialist with the Philippine Science High School (PSHS) system. PSHS is a system of 16 campuses and the Office of the Executive (OED). Each campus has developed its own practices and norms, though across all campuses IT support has not evolved sufficiently. There are only 2 existing information systems officially being used across the system. Both systems are due for an upgrade or a replacement in keeping with the development of technology and the changes in user requirements. The PSHS System is developing an IT Development team that can develop and implement the necessary upgrades, and to re-develop the entire IT infrastructure that PSHS is currently working with.

A PCRV is needed as an addition to the IT Development Team. The PCRV will review the PSHS Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) roadmap and provide technical advice for its continuous revision and improvement, introduce design enhancements, updates, and programming changes for portions and subsystems of systems software, including operating systems, networking, utilities, databases, and Internet-related tools, and conduct a series of workshops on enhanced IT systems to members of the ICT faculty and staff.

Please note that departure dates and other details of this project could change because of the uncertainties as Peace Corps and local partners resume volunteer operations. Candidates selected for this position will be arriving in the Philippines together as a group, so while the departure dates for the whole group could change, dates cannot be changed for individual candidates.
