Project Description

A Peace Corps Response Volunteer is needed to serve with mothers2mothers as a DREAMS Training and Project Office in South Africa. The DREAMS (Determined, Resilient, Empowered, AIDS-free, Mentored and Safe) initiative goes beyond typical health initiatives to address these factors, working toward meeting the Sustainable Development Goal of ending AIDS by 2030. As a part of our DREAMS component, m2m’s project is seeking to reduce the acute vulnerability of approximately 26,000 adolescent girls and women–10 to 19 years old –and their caregivers and contribute to HIV prevention through the delivery of evidence -based parenting interventions. Their programming helps build the capacity of an entire family or a caregiver to meet basic needs, therefore removing economic barriers to HIV testing and treatment, reducing HIV stigma in the community, and improving education and knowledge in the community about HIV.

A Response Volunteer with a bachelor’s degree, at least 3 years of professional experience in training and curriculum development, and experience with blended learning models is needed to serve as a DREAMS Training and Project Officer. The purpose of this position is to assist the organization key managers with training, regional coordination, and implementation of the mothers2mothers-led Children and Adolescents Are My Priority project. This role will help the team implement curricula for group-based parenting interventions for approximately 26,000 vulnerable adolescent women and girls (10-19 years) and their caregivers across 14 sub-districts in Mpumalanga Province, South Africa. The goal of this assignment is to build the capacity of key managers of the mothers2mothers-led Children and the Adolescents Are My Priority project.
