Project Description
The Philippines Science High School (PSHS) System has requested the support of a Peace Corps Response Volunteer (PCRV) with a Master's Degree in Education or Curriculum Studies (or other related field), three years’ experience in the field of education, and three years’ experience in curriculum-related activities to work as a Curriculum Design Specialist. In response to the Kindergarten to Grade 12 (K-12) Enhanced Basic Education Program of the Philippine government, and the instructions from its Board of Trustees, the Office of the Executive Director (OED) prepared a 6-year PSHS curriculum in 2011. Attendant to the changes brought on by the implementation of the new curriculum on June 2012, and after graduating PSHS’ first two classes under the 6-year curriculum, revisiting and revising the 6-year academic program has become imperative. To proceed with the proposed revision, the PSHS shall undertake a Curriculum Review and Development Project (CRDP) bearing in mind different components comprising the curriculum development process.
The PCRV will support the design or review of the PSHS curriculum framework and provide advice for its continuous revision and improvement, including modes of delivery, monitoring, and evaluation. The PCRV will conduct workshops or seminars on curriculum development to the Curriculum Review Committee, the Curriculum Technical Working Groups, faculty, and OED’s Research, Policy, and Academics Division (RPAD), and the PCRV will also assist in creating engaging learning activities and compelling course content, and by recommending modern educational methods. The goal of the PSHS is to remain a prestigious learning center, providing the Philippines with a critical mass of professionals and leaders in Science and Technology.
