Climate Change Resilience for Small Business Advisor

Project Description

The Association for Entrepreneurial Formation and Development (AFAD) in Moldova has requested the support of a Peace Corps Response Volunteer (PCRV) to serve as a Climate Change Resilience for Small Business Advisor. AFAD provides economic empowerment services (social enterprises) and support for young people and women (including Ukrainian refugees) to start their own business through training programs. They are interested in implementing innovative technologies for sustainable economic growth and are looking for solutions of water purification, waste minimization, recycling, use of alternative sources of energy and other processes to make their economic activities resilient to climate change.

The PCRV will work together with the project team and will be involved in revising the curriculum of the business training course which includes climate change resilience and adaptation components and guide of best practices and viable solutions for applying environmental technological innovations to ensure sustainable development of rural areas. The PCRV will also assist partners in identifying and establishing partnerships on national and international level on the topics of climate change resiliency and adaptation.

Candidates selected for this position will be arriving in Moldova together as a group. While the whole group's departure dates could change, dates cannot be changed for individual candidates.

Required Skills

• Bachelor’s degree in any relevant field
• At least two years’ work experience in climate change policy, mitigation, adaptation.
• At least two years of international development experience.
• Experience in designing and implementing project with focus on climate change resiliency
• Knowledge of the specific problems faced by the small entrepreneurs
• Knowledge of methods to identify solutions to ensure the sustainability of “green” businesses
