Career Guidance & International Exchange Coordinator

Project Description

The Maths & Science Leadership Academy (MSLA) in South Africa has requested the support of a Peace Corps Response Volunteer (PCRV) to serve as a Career Guidance & International Exchange Coordinator. MSLA provides a holistic approach to educating youth for the future, and the non-profit organization supports 300 Grade 9 – 12 students from deprived backgrounds, representing 18 schools in Kimberley each year. Specifically MSLA MLSA provides students with academic support in maths and science, IT skills development, Global Citizenship Education (GCED), and career guidance.

The PCRV will assist the Managing Director with implementing and growing the Career Guidance Program, and as such will form a valuable member of the MSLA team. The PCRV will support current Grade 12 students and current Grade 11 students through career guidance programs and will work with the MSLA team to develop resources for maintaining relationships with past MSLA students. The PCRV will also be responsible for supporting MSLA’s efforts to promote study in the USA and the GCED program.

Please note that departure dates and other details of this project could change because of the uncertainties as Peace Corps and local partners resume volunteer operations. Candidates selected for this position will be arriving in South Africa together as a group, so while the departure dates for the whole group could change, dates cannot be changed for individual candidates.
