Project Description

A Peace Corps Response Volunteer (PCRV), fluent in French with 5-7 years of experience working as an entrepreneur or with entrepreneurs OR a bachelor’s degree in business, marketing or another related field and at least 2 years of experience working as an entrepreneur or with entrepreneurs, is needed to serve as an Agribusiness Incubation Center Advisor in Senegal. The Government of Senegal has provided significant support to improve the difficult situation of companies by creating the economic resilience fund "Force COVID-19", and with the reduction in pandemic related restrictions, those companies are trying to revive economic activities with the support of the Chamber of Artisans and its partners. Chamber of Artisans supports local artisans with the Agribusiness Incubation Center, which was set up in 2015 with the support of Peace Corps Volunteers. The Incubation Center is working to relaunch all services, but this has exposed additional needs for support to co-develop and support implementation of a system to effectively manage the Incubation Center for years to come.

A Peace Corps Response Volunteer (PCRV) has been requested to guide and strengthen the capacities of the main counterpart to provide attractive services to entrepreneurs who use the Center, such as training, coaching, support for access to finance, access to equipment for the production of products and administrative support. The PCRV will also co-train young people and women affiliated with the Chamber of Artisans in entrepreneurship, and guide companies affiliated with the Chamber of Artisans in management and marketing. The overall goal is to support the relaunch of the Incubation Center and support its sustainability.

Please note that departure dates and other details of this project could change because of the uncertainties as Peace Corps and local partners resume volunteer operations. Candidates selected for this position will be arriving in Senegal together as a group, so while the departure dates for the whole group could change, dates cannot be changed for individual candidates.
