This is a developmental position established to provide for a period of growth. During this period, you will receive assignments that are designed to develop broader and more in-depth knowledge and skills needed to perform higher-level assignments. During this period, you will operate under closer supervision and guidance than described at the full performance level, with less complex assignments. As overall knowledge and skill is gained, more reliance will be placed on you until full responsibility for assignments is assumed.
Promotion to the full performance level is neither guaranteed nor implied and promotion will be based solely on your ability to perform at the full performance as determined by the position’s supervisor, and in conjunction with meeting all other requirements.
GS-9: Applicants must have at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-7 grade level in the Federal service, to include experience writing and/or editing a wide variety of material reports, brochures, speeches, briefing papers, and tailoring the material to the intended audience. You may substitute education for experience. Your education must consist of a master’s or equivalent graduate degree OR two full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree OR a LL.B. or J.D. Must be related to the duties of the position.
GS-11: Applicants must have at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-9 grade level in the Federal service, to include writing and/or editing a wide variety of material reports, brochures, speeches, briefing papers, and testimony and tailoring the material to the intended audience while applying grammar, punctuation, style, and format requirements for a variety of materials; experience in the principles, practices, methods and techniques of English composition, such as the use of logic, consistency of style, parallel construction, use of transitions, and similar. OR have a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree OR 3 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.M., if related. OR have a combination of specialized experience and graduate level education that meets the qualification requirements for this position.
