Urban Roots

About the organization

Urban Roots transforms the lives of young people by giving them leadership opportunities on our urban farm while growing food for the community. Come research, design develop, and pilot the next generation of hands-on food and farming based educational programs at Urban Roots. You will lead the project to deepen and develop partnerships with schools and school districts and create a new set of programs including field trips, after-school activities, and camps. These programs will be grounded in hands-on, project-based activities for K-12 students that take advantage of the unique and exciting educational opportunities found in growing and eating food. Urban Roots is currently the only farm in Austin offering educational farm tours to K-12 students. By expanding our capacity for educational tours and other school programs, Urban Roots can help meet a need for more free educational field trips in Austin and its surrounding areas.
