About the organization

SVDP NOLA is an anti-poverty organization which mobilizes it's network of volunteers across the Greater New Orleans region to provide aid to vulnerable community members. SVDP NOLA offers adult education services, emergency financial assistance, food pantries, thrift store vouchers, disaster assistance, advocacy and case management support.

We are now recruiting for our AmeriCorps VISTA program, Nourishing Louisiana, which aims to address food insecurity and equitable access to healthcare across Southeast Louisiana. We are seeking a dynamic team of AmeriCorps VISTA members and leaders who can support the success of this program through capacity building, outreach, volunteer recruitment, strategic partnership development, event coordination, mentorship, and data collection and management.


Develop relevant, accessible training materials and resources for volunteers and staff leaders that are adaptable to each food distribution site and provide information for volunteers to add value to client experiences. Survey partners to compile resources used by food distribution sites to share across the network and increase site efficacy. Document best practices in current role and provide feedback to VISTA leaders or Program Director as needed.


Must be U.S. Citizen, U.S. National, or Lawful Permanent Resident of the United States

Have successfully obtained a High School diploma or its equivalent prior to the start of the program

Agree to and pass a criminal background check

Ability to serve full time for the program term, generally Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. – 5 p.m.
