The National Democratic Institute for International Affairs (NDI) is seeking a candidate to work with its Eurasia team covering the Caucasus. This is a temporary position based in NDI's Washington, DC office. Specifically, the Eurasia Project Assistant will provide programmatic and administrative support to the team's initiatives in Georgia. The temporary project assistant position is available beginning in April 2020 for a term appointment lasting three months with the possibility of extension for an additional three months based on performance.

Duties

Temporary Project Assistant: Eurasia

The National Democratic Institute for International Affairs (NDI) is seeking a candidate to work with its Eurasia team covering the Caucasus. This is a temporary position based in NDI's Washington, DC office. Specifically, the Eurasia Project Assistant will provide programmatic and administrative support to the team's initiatives in Georgia. The temporary project assistant position is available beginning in April 2020 for a term appointment lasting three months with the possibility of extension for an additional three months based on performance.

Primary Responsibilities
• Drafting cover memos and editing regular field reports, proposals, and other documents as needed
• Arranging travel and logistics for travelers on NDI business, including support preparing program briefing materials for election delegations, NDI trainers and field representatives
• Assisting with administrative tasks such as scanning, photocopying, and reviewing documents, such as leases and contracts, in support of headquarters and field office operations
• Contributing analysis on NDI programming, especially success stories and lessons learned from parliamentary strengthening, civic organizing, election monitoring, and local government
• Gathering reports from various news sources on the countries of the Eurasia region
• Conducting special projects as needed
• Attending workshops, lectures and other events within and outside of NDI

Qualifications

Qualifications
• Pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree in international affairs, political science or a related field; recent graduates are also welcome to apply. Additional years of relevant work experience may be substituted for educational requirement on a one-for-one basis.
• Available full-time (40 hours/week)
• Interest in/knowledge of political issues and/or of the Caucasus region and Eurasia
• Strong written and oral communication skills
• Fluency in English required; knowledge of Georgian a plus
• Efficiency, organization skills and a high level of attention to detail
• Able to work independently and as part of a group
• Computer knowledge skills, including MS Word, MS Excel, and Google applications
