Temporary Project Assistant: Asia

The National Democratic Institute for International Affairs (NDI) is seeking project assistants to work in Washington, D.C. for the Asia & Pacific team's programs. The project assistant will be responsible for conducting research on country-specific programs, attending meetings and seminars on Asia & Pacific affairs, and providing administrative support on country projects.

The selected applicant must be available to start by January 6, 2020 at the latest.

Responsibilities:
• Assist the Asia & Pacific team in organizing and implementing democracy development programs
• Collect and distribute to the Asia & Pacific team foreign and domestic newspaper, magazine, or journal clippings pertaining to Asia & Pacific affairs
• Attend meetings and seminars on Asia & Pacific affairs and prepare written presentations to Asia & Pacific team members
• Assist in writing engaging web/blog stories about NDI's work in the Region with its partners and the importance of democracy programs in Asia & Pacific
• Assist in providing logistical and administrative support to the Asia & Pacific team
• Assist with administrative duties such as filing, faxing, copying and mailings

Qualifications

Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in international relations, political science, journalism, communications, or related course of study preferred or experience or a combination of experience and education can be used in lieu of degree
• Excellent writing and editing skills required
• Available a minimum of 40 hours per week
• Able to prioritize, meet deadlines, and work with a team
• Experience managing work prioritization
• Experience with Google Apps (Gmail, Calendar, Google Drive, G+, etc.)
