Proximity Learning is a Company Built By Educators For Educators, Focused on Educational Equity and believes that all students deserve educational equity through access to the best teachers in the country—no matter what.
In business since 2009, Proximity Learning expanded from initially focused on live-streaming World Language teachers from around the world to individual students in the United States then grew as public schools began to inquire about placing Proximity Learning teachers in their schools, we saw an opportunity to expand scope and make an impact on the education sector.
Today, Proximity Learning conducts classes in over 30 topic areas in over 200 schools across 20 states. We strive every day to pursue equitable access to quality education for students everywhere by being centered around the fact that students deserve to always have a virtually streamed instructor that is live, dynamic, and caring.
Virtual Teaching Position-Work From Home; Must Be Available During the Students' Instructional Day
Teacher – World languages or Swahili certified
Terms of Employment: 10 Months FLSA STATUS: EXEMPT
Will implement, into weekly instruction, appropriate curriculum based on the NCSSFL-ACTFL Can-Do Statements and the course syllabi; will maintain an educational atmosphere that encourages effective student learning; will be placed into an active teacher pool.

Administer appropriate district curriculum
Conduct classes in the language of instruction
Develop and implement the Components of an Effective Lesson for instruction
Analyze student progress and provide appropriate instruction
Ensure the opportunity for all students to learn in a supportive environment
Participate in other job-related duties and activities related to the position
Work cooperatively with students, colleagues, and company management to develop curriculum
Must possess a teaching license issued by a state department of education with appropriate foreign language endorsement
Bachelor’s Degree from a regionally accredited college or university
Internet: Consumer-grade WiFi, Wired Internet connection.
Internet Speeds: 15 MBPS Download, 5 MBPS Upload, Check through speedtest.net
Computer: Processor: Single Core 1.5Ghz or Higher, RAM: 4GB or higher, Windows 7, 8, 8.1, or 10 Mac 2014 or newer, No Chromebooks.
Two Monitors: Laptop Screen + External Monitor (for laptops) Computer Monitor + External Monitor (for desktop computers)
Camera: Webcam or HD webcam HD camera
Audio: Built-in, USB plug-in or wireless Bluetooth. One of the following - Combination Headsets or Speakers and a microphone

Demo Video Instructions: The demo must be a minimum 5 to 7 minutes quick virtual lesson in your subject area. Please use Zoom and make sure you share your screen in video. There is a tutorial of how to do this in the final section of the application.
Things to consider in creating your video demo lesson:
-- well-structured short lesson (opening with clear objectives; student practice; closure)
-- technology use (digital background; share your screen with face on camera; special applications like Padlet, Whiteboard, or Nearpod; use of virtual writing tools?)
--interaction (how do you relate to students; does lesson allow for them to be engaged? do you share a practice exercise of some sort?)
-- content (lesson should include subject area content -- if you interviewed for Science, a lesson should be about a science skill or topic; if you interviewed for Math, a lesson about a math skill/concept should be covered; etc.)
