About the organization

Galileo, now in its 21st year, is an educational organization that runs four summer programs at 50+ locations throughout the Bay Area, Southern California, and Chicagoland: Camp Galileo (Pre-K- 5th graders); Galileo Summer Quest (5th-8th graders); and Summer Camps @ The Tech (4th-8th graders). Our mission is to develop innovators who envision and create a better world, and we reach this mission through the employment of our unique pedagogy, the Galileo Innovation Approach. At Galileo, we nurture creativity, curiosity, and expression in campers, and believe in giving staff the opportunity to contribute their strengths toward the success of a program and company invested in their personal and professional growth.

Duties

Lead your team of up to 20 campers each week and assist Instructors as campers rotate to art, science, and outdoor sessions
Assist with daily set-up and cleanup of camp and assist Instructors with lesson preparation
Provide excellent customer service to families and guardians daily
Maintain a safe environment and provide leadership and camp spirit to all campers
Contribute to and participate in daily camp activities, including camper check-in and check out opening/closing ceremonies, snack & lunch & extended care supervision, and programming
Team Leaders will report to the Camp Director and receive professional development and ongoing coaching

Qualifications

Genuine love and interest in working with children and/or education
Ability to maintain an excellent work ethic, a high level of energy, and exceptional enthusiasm each day
Flexibility to meet changing needs and demands while balancing multiple tasks efficiently
Ability to work collaboratively on a team, with an openness to feedback and a desire to grow professionally
Strong organization skills and attention to detail
A great communicator with families and guardians
Must be fully vaccinated for COVID-19 by the start of camp to ensure staff and campers are as safe and healthy as possible and to comply with enhanced health and safety protocols

EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION

Must be 18 years or older by May 30th, 2022
College student, recent graduate, or equivalent experience preferred
Demonstrated leadership experience
Experience in after-school programs or leading programs for kids of a wide range of grade levels is a plus
