About the organization

We are the nation’s largest and most experienced provider of ecological restoration and water resource solutions. To date, we have restored over 525 stream miles and 62,000 wetland acres, in addition to conserving and preserving 15,000 acres of endangered species habitats. RES operations include planting over 20,000,000 restorative trees and reducing over 280 tons of polluting nutrients. RES ecological solutions enable a balance of economic development and ecological sustainability.

Duties

Around 50-75% of your time, you will be in the field! You will be performing water quality sampling, stream gage installation, stream mitigation monitoring, stream geomorphic surveys, hydrologic analysis, BEHI/NBS assessments, 404/USM crediting assessments, benthic sampling and ID, and fish sampling and ID.

Please be advised that we perform these tasks come rain or come shine and working outside in harsh and adverse weather conditions (including both cold and hot environments) is part of the routine. You will also be walking long distances, bending, lifting heavy objects (up to 50 lbs), and performing other physical activities. Occasionally, some of our projects require extensive travel with overnight stays.

Around 50-25% of your time, you will be performing data entry, data processing, and technical writing based on your fieldwork. Superior writing, communication, and computer skills (MS Word, Excel, etc.) and attention to detail are paramount! Pieces you will be responsible for include monitoring reports, stream and nutrient credit calculations, hydrologic analysis, assist with components for stream restoration design and permitting, and coordinating field staff.

Qualifications

BA/BS in an environmental science field such as, but not limited to, ecology, wetland science, aquatic biology, botany, wildlife biology, fisheries, soils, hydrology, etc
Leadership and management experience.
Experience managing field data and preparing related summary reports and permit documents.
Experience with GPS and/or various survey equipment.
Experience with GIS and/or CAD.
Experience with Excel spreadsheet development and management.
