The Staff Accountant will proactively support the accounting functions of the organization. The successful candidate will be able to execute the duties listed below. This is an exempt position reporting to the Accounting Manager.
Lead payroll processing activities
Orient new employees in payroll system; input and maintain personnel data
Develop and run templated and/or customized reports from the human resource information system
Accounts Payable/Accounts Receivable
Review and reconcile invoices for proper coding and authorization
Work directly with designated vendors to code invoices (e.g., Sabin’s IT consultants)
Provide coding guidance to colleagues, as needed, including training new employees on coding payment requests
Process on-line donation billing and receipts
Enter accounts payable and cash receipt transactions into accounting software
Assist with preparing a weekly check-run to ensure timely processing of payments to vendors
Manage and review corporate credit card statements and expense reports for proper supporting documentation, coding and authorization
Assist with reconciling monthly bank statements
Support the monthly close process by preparing journal entries to reconcile general ledger accounts, as requested
Assist with the annual audit and annual tax return
Manage annual state charitable filings in coordination with Accounting Manager
Minimum four years accounts payable experience; minimum two years payroll experience
Proficient in Microsoft Dynamics NAV or similar accounting software
Advanced knowledge and experience using Paylocity or similar payroll software
Proficient in Microsoft applications (Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Teams, Word) and Zoom video conferencing
A high degree of integrity, accountability, energy and flexibility
Excellent organizational skills and ability to work in fast-paced environment
Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks simultaneously
Excellent customer service skills
Periodic work in the DC office as needed
