About the organization
SVDP NOLA is an anti-poverty organization which mobilizes it's network of volunteers across the Greater New Orleans region to provide aid to vulnerable community members. SVDP NOLA offers adult education services, emergency financial assistance, food pantries, thrift store vouchers, disaster assistance, advocacy and case management support.
We are now recruiting for our AmeriCorps VISTA program, Nourishing Louisiana, which aims to address food insecurity and equitable access to healthcare across Southeast Louisiana. We are seeking a dynamic team of AmeriCorps VISTA members and leaders who can support the success of this program through capacity building, outreach, volunteer recruitment, strategic partnership development, event coordination, mentorship, and data collection and management.
Recruit and manage new volunteers to build capacity at assigned food distribution sites in St. Charles Parish. Conduct targeted community outreach to raise awareness of services offered on-site and strengthen partnerships. Reduce barriers to accessing healthcare services by establishing partnerships with healthcare organizations to bring mobile services and educational experiences to food distribution sites.
Must be U.S. Citizen, U.S. National, or Lawful Permanent Resident of the United States
Have successfully obtained a High School diploma or its equivalent prior to the start of the program
Agree to and pass a criminal background check
Ability to serve full time for the program term, generally Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. – 5 p.m.
