Macfadden is now part of PAE. Founded over 30 years ago, Macfadden has provided federal agencies with critical on-the-ground support to U.S. government humanitarian missions around the world as well as financial and IT system support. Through program management, human resources services, financial management systems support, information technology solutions, knowledge management, travel coordination and communications support, Macfadden enables effective U.S. government humanitarian response to international disasters. Macfadden’s workforce includes approximately 300 employees primarily located in the Washington, D.C. area.
Macfadden, now part of PAE, is seeking a highly motivated Solutions Architect with proven web development skills to support a digital transformation within USAID’s Office of Transition Initiatives (OTI). In this position, you will have the opportunity to assess, plan, design, assemble and propose solutions to integrate various applications both internal and external to USAID/OTI. You will also use your hands-on technical skills to help build new web applications; as well as maintain current applications using the latest frameworks and technologies available to achieve desired business outcomes. The current development team builds customized- web applications to meet OTI user specifications. OTI is a fast-paced, exciting office where you will have the opportunity to be part of an elite team on the cutting edge of emerging issues around the world.
6+ years of solution architecture combined with 2+ years of web development experience
BS Degree in computer science, computer engineering or a related field, OR, High School GED with additional work experience related to the duties of the position.
Ability to describe the applicable system’s structures, define software features, identify technical problems, write business proposals and to make presentations to both technical and non-technical audiences at all levels and background
Excellent knowledge of open source solutions, including CMS’s
Experience in LAMP (Linux/Apache/MySQL-MariaDB/PHP) stack.
Experience in OOP (Object-Oriented-Programming), adhere to coding standards and documentation.
Organized and work well in a team setting and open to feedback from others and give honest non-judgmental feedback.
Understanding of Data Modeling and flow diagrams including architecture frameworks such as Zachman and ToGAG as well as the ability to model data in UML

Amazon Web Services (AWS)
PostgreSQL and PostGIS
Have worked with Jira, Bitbucket/Github (Git)
Knowledge of SDLC, Agile/Scrum, Continuous Integration (e.g. Jenkins)
U.S. Citizenship is required; selected candidate must be able to qualify for a government sponsored clearance
