Duties

Rivendell Interstate School district is hiring a teacher to work in our 6th grade program at Rivendell Academy. The position involves teaching science and math and providing skill support to students across all disciplines. The candidate will work closely with a partner teacher as well as another team of three teachers offering a uniquely designed “challenges” curriculum in the middle of the day. Although working independently from our 7th and 8th grade team, the 6th grade teachers will be integral members of the larger middle school program with regards to curriculum design, professional development, and the sharing of resources and materials.

Strong candidates will have demonstrated creativity and success in improving math skills of under-performing adolescents, integrating math and science content, working flexibly with other staff, and designing complex projects. We have an excellent lab space and an abundance of equipment. The Academy houses three large maker-space rooms, laptops, and an excellent computer lab and media equipment.

Qualifications

Candidates must be certified in Vermont or New Hampshire with an elementary endorsement that includes 6th grade or a middle school endorsement in science and math. Candidates without certification but outstanding knowledge and achievement in their field may be hired but must pursue licensure through a state alternative certification pathway.
