Duties

CHAI will apply the techniques it has used successfully to improve access to HIV/AIDS and malaria treatment in LMICs to achieve the same for essential vaccines. Immunization is widely acknowledged as the most cost-effective and focused disease intervention and yet each year an estimated 3 million children under the age of 5 years lose their lives to preventable illnesses. A majority of these deaths occur in LMICs, where poverty and lack of affordability prevent access to life-saving vaccines.
There is an unprecedented wave of new vaccines expected to become available within the next decade that could transform the global burden of disease, and CHAI is applying the techniques it has used successfully to improve access to HIV/AIDS and malaria trea
We are seeking a highly motivated individual with outstanding analytical and strategic abilities, emotional intelligence, communication skills, academic credentials, and private sector experience. The successful candidate will adhere to the core CHAI values of resourcefulness and entrepreneurialism, flexibility, independence and trust, humility, and strong work ethic.

The following are the main objectives of the Senior Manager:
- Objective 1: Lead the team in achieving market-entry and access pricing agreements for service models to ensure the long-term functionality of vaccine refrigerators in-country
- Objective 2: Support completion of the solar electrification pilot in Uganda; explore opportunities for scale-up

Qualifications

Minimum 8 years of work experience in a fast paced, results-oriented work environment
A Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Engineering, Economics, Supply Chain, or other related disciplines
Experience with private sector business practices – e.g., in management consulting, finance, or other industry – with this experience ideally involving exposure to engineering, product development, or other technical functions
Experience working in LMIC contexts; high level of sensitivity for relationship-building and relationship-management across varying global contexts
Proficiency in working and managing teams remotely
An ability to quickly understand new technology and services and the business models behind them
Exceptional analytical, strategic, research, and presentation skills for both qualitative and quantitative data
Excellent oral and written communication skills; the ability to explain complex technical jargon in ways that are more easily understandable across multiple audiences, countries, and cultures
Entrepreneurial mindset, including the ability to lead and inspire teams and maintain a highly trusting, non-bureaucratic, nimble work environment
Ability to travel internationally approximately 20-30% of the time, i.e., 6-10 days per month, on average.

Pluses:
Experience in vaccines, refrigeration, solar power, and/or global health.
