Macfadden is now part of PAE. Founded over 30 years ago, Macfadden has provided federal agencies with critical on-the-ground support to U.S. government humanitarian missions around the world as well as financial and IT system support. Through program management, human resources services, financial management systems support, information technology solutions, knowledge management, travel coordination and communications support, Macfadden enables effective U.S. government humanitarian response to international disasters. Macfadden’s workforce includes approximately 300 employees primarily located in the Washington, D.C. area.


PAE/Macfadden seeks Senior Health Information Systems Director candidates for an anticipated global health activity focused on strengthening host capacity to produce high-quality health information, to optimally manage such information, and to promote the use of information for decision making. This global project will be based in Washington DC, with extensive travel.

The Senior Health Information Systems Director will be responsible for leading the approach to develop an effective HIS country program in accordance with the program purpose, and for executing, monitoring, tracking, and reporting on the progress of the country programs under CHISU. The Senior Health Information Systems Director will provide direct technical assistance, and quality control and oversight to additionally assigned technical assistance teams in the areas of:

Analysis of host country government health information systems to identify strengths and gaps through application of comprehensive framework.
Advise host country governments on integration of systems and platforms.
Advise host country governments on policy and other enabling environment improvements to strengthen HIS, including engagement with non-governmental institutions such as institutes of higher learning.


The Senior Health Information Systems Director must have the following experience and qualifications:

Minimum of a master’s degree in public health, health informatics (preferred), or a related field;
At least ten years of progressively more senior-level experience including supervision and management experience;
At least five years of experience with health informatics or ICT/digital health work in an international context
At least five years managing a complex international development program component or portfolio of complex international agreements involving
supervision of staff;
Demonstrated ability to plan, manage, and implement all aspects of the enabling environment, interoperability of systems and use of systems within complex, international development agreement programs;
Experience in establishing effective partnerships within and outside the organization.
