The Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Virginia offer a lineup of nationally recognized programs that address today’s most pressing youth issues. For more than 20 years, our core programs have engaged young people in activities with adults and peers, building our kids’ self-esteem and helping them reach their full potential. With locations in Albemarle, Charlottesville, Madison and Orange, our Clubs now serve more than 2,000 kids annually.


The Senior Director of Campaign and Major Gifts oversees and manages the major and planned giving program for the organization. This person is responsible for the oversight, planning, and implementation of strategies for identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Virginia major and planned giving donors, both to the annual fund and for all organizational campaigns. This role will strategically expand the organization’s major gift and planned giving programs with a goal of significantly increasing the base of annual donors who give $10,000 and higher on an annual basis. The Senior Director of Campaign and Major Gifts reports to the Chief Development Officer and serves as the primary contact with the board resource development committee in the absence of the Chief Development Officer.

Manages a portfolio of major gifts and campaign prospects and donors, including research, strategy oversight, proposal development and writing, and coordination of follow-up to secure gift and stewardship activities by tracking efforts through the donor database and/or other resources

Demonstrated track record of developing and executing successful fundraising strategies
Strong interpersonal skills with great attention to detail, and strong with follow-through and tracking; 5 years experience preferred
Demonstrated success in further developing and maintaining new fundraising programs and affinity groups
Ability to work collaboratively with other departments, volunteer/board members
Ability to gather and analyze data
Proficiency in Abila or comparable donor database
Excellent organizational, writing, and verbal skills
Capacity to be strategic and forward thinking
Ability to set and achieve goals, work independently, meet deadlines, manage several projects simultaneously
Proven track record of securing gifts
Ability to maintain high level of donor confidentiality
Passion for the mission of the Boys & Girls Club
