Duties

The Senior Development Associate, Private Sector, provides technical as well as administrative and accounting support for business development and fundraising activities with private sector donors at Internews. The Associate works with the Global Development team and under the supervision of the Director of Private Development to increase private donor funding in support of Internews' mission by researching and identifying foundations and corporations for program support funds. The Associate contributes to a strategic approach to development to ensure that Internews can expand and diversify its funding base by successfully meeting its annual targets for private sector fundraising. Qualifications

-Prior work experience, preferably in the non-profit, private sector donor fundraising, or international development field;
-Relevant University degree required.
-Passion for the role of media and increased access to information in changing lives.
-Excellent oral communication and presentation skills.
-Superior writing skills with demonstrated ability to translate complicated technical material into easy to read and compelling text. Ability to both edit others' writing and accept feedback.
-Demonstrated prior experience with successful proposal writing.
-Prior experience with researching private sector donors, including both foundation and corporate donors.
-Proficient with Microsoft Outlook, MS Excel, Microsoft Word and internet research. Prior experience with Salesforce and Wealth Engine is strongly preferred but not required. Experience with Adobe InDesign and other desktop publishing programs a plus.
-Proven organization skills, with strong attention to detail.
-Proven ability to multi-task and prioritize within the context of a flexible and shifting workload.
-Strong interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to maintain a sense of calm and project a sense of humor in the face of strict deadlines. Must be able and willing to work well with a diverse range of colleagues to achieve ambitious fundraising targets.
-Proven ability to operate effectively in a multicultural environment.
-Ability to handle sensitive donor information with the utmost discretion.
