About the organization

Girl Scouts Nation’s Capital is the largest Girl Scout Council in the country.  It provides girls in grades K-12 with opportunities to learn new skills, make friends, and discover the power of girls together. 

Located 35 miles southeast of Washington, DC, in Hughesville, MD, Camp Winona offers a variety of specialty theme programs, for girls who have completed grades K-11, that range from two-nights to one week in a fun, safe, and traditional camp setting. During their stay, campers and staff will sleep in glen shelters and enjoy a variety of meal options, including cookouts or packouts outdoors and traditional family-style meals in the dining hall.


Unique Leadership Opportunity

Our camp directors are a unique blend of reliability, maturity, fun and creativity! We are seeking a seasonal Camp Director for Winona to supervise all camp program activities and the 45-55 person staff. The Director hires the staff, including the administrative team, and together they develop and execute exciting programs for girls, while ensuring safety procedures, business operations, and smooth parent interaction. 

This is a seasonal position with part-time, remote work now through May and full-time, on-site work June through August (in Hughesville, MD).


Is this you?

- Passionate about girl leadership
- Experienced in program and people management, including at least 2 years in organized camping
- Excellent with girls, ages 5-17, and equally skilled at working with adults of all ages and backgrounds
- Superior judgement, especially in times of crisis
- Skilled in program design and training facilitation
- A collaborative leader
- Love being outdoors – ready and able to live at camp from June 1 – mid-August
- Available to work off-site, part-time during pre-season, starting immediately
- Aren’t bothered by heat, humidity, rain, sunscreen, or bug repellant
- 25 years old or older
- Possess a valid driver's license
