Refugee Women's Community Empowerment VISTA

AmeriCorps VISTA

About the organization

The Utah Refugee VISTA Project (URVP) hosts VISTA members across major refugee organizations in the Salt Lake Valley. Our VISTAs serve with local nonprofits, international NGOs, and city, county, and government offices. Whether your background is in social sciences, business, data analysis, international policy, or education, we have a position to fit your skills and interests. URVP VISTAs and our VISTA Leader can expect professional development, mentorship, and support from both AmeriCorps and their host organizations.

The Refugee Services Office (RSO) Women's Community Empowerment VISTA member’s role will be to identify service gaps, launch and monitor training programs, and develop pathways for coordinated services for women in local refugee communities, with the goal of assisting women in achieving self sufficiency and economic empowerment through increased access to training, education, and organizational development resources. The VISTA member will identify key actors interested in forming nonprofit service organizations to meet unique community needs, as well as work with existing refugee nonprofits to identify opportunities to create, strengthen, and better connect services for community members.
