About the organization

The Utah Refugee VISTA Project (URVP) hosts VISTA members across major refugee organizations in the Salt Lake Valley. Our VISTAs serve with local nonprofits, international NGOs, and city, county, and government offices. Whether your background is in social sciences, business, data analysis, international policy, or education, we have a position to fit your skills and interests. URVP VISTAs and our VISTA Leader can expect professional development, mentorship, and support from both AmeriCorps and their host organizations.


As the Refugee Community Organization Development VISTA, your goal will be to connect refugee communities with targeted resources to meet assessed needs. You will support interested and existing refugee community groups through nonprofit development pathways, programmatic offerings, and customized community resources. The ideal candidate will have an interest in community empowerment, nonprofit management, and program development. They must have excellent cross-cultural communication, writing/editing skills, and a willingness to provide community outreach and education. They will be comfortable in training, assessing, and partnering with refugee community members and programs to best meet identified needs and desired program outcomes
