About the organization
From babies to seniors, Gulf Coast JFCS serves all people in need, regardless of race, religion, culture or gender identity. Our programs span a broad human service spectrum, from behavioral and mental health, child welfare and adoption, family support, job and employment transition, housing, food, transportation or home care assistance for the elderly.
The Career Coach is responsible for assisting refugees in achieving self-sufficiency through securing professional or skilled employment drawing upon previously-acquired knowledge, skills, and experience. This position is grant funded and available contingent on continued funding.
Enroll eligible clients by conducting all necessary forms.
Provide orientation to newly enrolled clients
Assist refugees in learning about career pathways and developing individualized Career Development Plans to gain employment and advance within their chosen career field.
Conduct quarterly assessments of the Career Development Plans.
Provide case management, training and technical assistance, specialized English language training, and mentoring to refugees enrolled in the program.
Determine the needs for child care, vocational ESOL, and short- and long-term training needs. Assist clients with enrolling in services that are geared towards their Career Development Plans.
Assess client transportation needs and as needed provide transportation.
Assist with coordinating volunteer mentoring tasks in order help clients achieve self-sufficiency.
Work with employers, volunteers, and program staff to design on-the-job trainings.
Communicate with employers frequently to determine any immediate issues that may interfere with the clients’ performance on the job.
Accompany refugees to employment and social service related appointments
WHAT YOU WILL NEED:
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Education, or Social Services related field is preferred.
Previous experience working with refugees and immigrants preferred.
2 years of successful relevant experience, or a combination of education and life experience required.
Bilingual, preferably in languages most spoken by clients
Must have experience in working with volunteers, conducting presentations, and developing positive relationships with employers.
Must participate in at least 10 hours training/continuing education each year.
Valid Driver’s License and current automobile insurance.
WHAT WE OFFER:
$34,000 - $35,000 salary
