About the organization

We are an international traveler’s hostel located in a prominent and central neighborhood of Washington DC. Our goal is to provide a safe, comfortable, and clean environment to travelers from around the world; to that end, we are recruiting mature, hospitality minded, customer focused, folks for our Front Desk and Housekeeping staff. In exchange for up to 25 hours per week, you get a bunk in one of our locations; accommodations are in the staff-only, dorm rooms. In addition to accommodation, you also receive free wifi, free laundry, and use of the equipped kitchen. We offer flexible scheduling to accommodate your outside responsibilities. Duties

Front Desk Staff, Position Description: Assist guests with questions and issues; provide reservation management, including check-ins and check-outs; answer phone calls and emails; process cash and credit card transactions; manage bed inventory. Responsible for the front desk area and lobby cleanliness and appearance. Co-responsible for light housekeeping and admin tasks. May be required to help in other areas during busy seasons or if staff is short-handed.

Qualifications

21 years or older.
High School Diploma or equivalent.
Basic math and computer skills.
Basic to intermediate English skills (verbal / written); language learners are encouraged to apply.
Effective communication skills (active listening; giving / receiving feedback; clarity of thought; intentionality).
Able to interact with guests and team members in a productive manner
Able to handle transactions accurately and responsibly; attention to detail required.
Strong customer service skills, including a helpful, courteous approach to resolving issues.
Able to stand, bend, walk and lift items (up to 20 lbs) throughout a shift.
