About the organization

Peace Corps Response is celebrating 25 years since its original founding as Crisis Corps in 1996. Over the past 25 years, the program has greatly evolved in both its Volunteer opportunities and target audience. Using the context of the 25th anniversary, PCR has planned an ambitious campaign to increase awareness and understanding of Peace Corps Response, as well as to celebrate its past accomplishments. This plan involves a greater amount of activities than PCR would normally pursue in its public affairs sphere, and thus requires additional temporary human resources for effective implementation.

This position serves as a Public Affairs Intern providing communications and marketing activities in collaboration with the recruitment and outreach staff, including development and review of online content and promotional materials, social media management, and coordination of special events.

Duties

•Assists in developing social media posts; works with PCR media team to contribute to overarching social media communications plan.
•Writes and edits social media content, under guidance from PCR media team.
•Monitors audience engagements on PCR social media accounts.
•Executes basic graphic design tasks as needed for promotional materials such as advertisements, fliers, etc.
•Reviews and edits stories submitted for publication.
•Assists in generating weekly, monthly and quarterly social media reports illustrating impact and trends of target audience interactions and social media activities to recommend improvements.
•Assists the PCR media team in maintaining and updating editorial calendars.
•Assists in organizing, promoting, and facilitating virtual events.
•Assists with organization and management of digital assets, including photos and videos.

Qualifications

•Prior experience with writing copy for social media posts, managing a Facebook page, curating and editing story content, and providing assistance in a team setting gained in a professional, academic, or volunteer-based setting.
•Superior English grammar and writing skills.
