Founded in 1970, WOCCU acts as the leading voice for global advocacy and development on behalf of the international credit union community. WOCCU promotes economic freedom and the sustainable growth of financial cooperatives across the globe through education, collaboration, and community-based development projects. WOCCU represents 85,000 credit unions in over 118 countries, serving over 274 million members. WOCCU’s extensive network and technical financial expertise has enabled it to play an instrumental role in growing the credit union movement to where it is today.
Under the supervision of the Project Development Manager, the position will support WOCCU’s project development efforts (60%), as well as supporting the Technology and Innovation for Financial Inclusion (TIFI) project (40%), with focus on field operations in West Africa (Burkina Faso and Senegal). Working under the supervision of the Project Development Manager, this position will support development of new project opportunities. For TIFI, this will focus on project management. These functions will include preparation and monitoring of scopes of work, budgets, contracts, due diligence, monitoring and evaluation, processing of invoices and payments, and reporting as well as subaward management.
Bachelor’s degree in international affairs, economics, finance or related area of study.
1 to 3 years of experience working in international development, including experience in supporting USAID programs.
Qualifications preferred: Experience working in an administrative or program coordination position for an international development firm.
Familiarity with economic growth programs, including micro-finance and credit unions.
Experience in a multi-cultural setting or living and/or working in a developing country.
Fluency in English and French required. Excellent writing and editing skills, including the ability to communicate concepts and ideas effectively and proficient grammar and punctuation.
Superior skills in Microsoft Suite: Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint and Outlook.
