Democracy International (DI) is seeking to hire a full-time Program Support Officer II to support the field teams and home office Program Management Team with field finances. This role is based in DI’s home office in Bethesda, Maryland and we will only consider applicants who are based in the DMV area. Due to the ongoing global pandemic, employees are working remotely temporarily.

Essential Job Duties
Support the field finance functions of multiple programs
Train home office and field staff on DI’s field finance systems, policies, and procedures, as needed.
Review field finance expense reports and supporting documentation for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with DI and funder rules and regulations
Work with field finance teams to ensure timely submission of finance expense reports and monthly reconciliation of field bank accounts
Support field teams in preparing local national payroll, and check payrolls and backup documentation
Serve as the primary point of contact in HQ for field finances as well as the main liaison to the HQ Finance & Accounting team.
International travel possible up to 10% of time

Secondary Job Duties
Provide mentorship and direction for interns
Backstop or provide surge support for other programs or team members, as needed
Contribute to field finance employee recruitment


Degree in business administration, accounting, finance or related field;
Experience working on USG-funded programs, preferred;
Experience directly managing program finances, preferred;
Highly organized and able to prioritize multiple tasks and meet tight deadlines;
Demonstrated experience working effectively with colleagues who are based in locations around the world;
Demonstrated ability to work in a multi-cultural, multi-ethnic environment with sensitivity and respect for diversity and gender;
Exceptional attention to detail;
Fluency in English and excellent writing and communications skills required.
