World Education is seeking a Program Officer (PO) to provide administrative, financial and technical backstopping support to projects in Laos. The position is based at World Education headquarters in Boston with travel to Asia. The PO will support a portfolio of current projects and support field staff in the daily management of these projects. Project sectors can include, but are not limited to, Persons with Disabilities, Economic Empowerment, and Formal and Non-Formal Education. An important component of the PO's job is assuring financial and contractual compliance with World Education policies and procedures, and with donor regulations and reporting requirements. The Program Officer will also participate actively in the preparation of new project proposals.


-Master's degree, or equivalent experience, in Education, International Development or related field strongly preferred
-Strong writing, research and analytical skills
-Ability to create budgets, conduct pipeline analyses, and design spreadsheets for project management purposes
-Extensive knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word required
-Excellent interpersonal and cross-cultural communication skills
-Well organized with attention to detail; ability to work on several projects simultaneously
-Must be able to work as part of a team, or with staff members on an individual basis
-Willingness to travel to Asia up to three times a year
-Work experience in Southeast Asia preferred
-Fluency in a language in the region is a plus but not required
