From the start, Unity Health Care has been committed to serving the health needs of our communities. Originally founded in 1985 as Health Care for the Homeless Project (HCHP), HCHP provided primary health care services to homeless individuals and families that resided in local emergency shelters or on the streets of the District of Columbia. In 1997, HCHP officially changed its name to Unity Health Care as care expanded from serving people experiencing homelessness to providing primary and specialty care to District residents. Over the past three decades we have grown into a network of over 20 traditional and non-traditional health centers and a medical outreach mobile unit.

As reflected in our history, Unity is more committed than ever to further unify services in convenient and accessible health centers to make our families and communities healthier.

Duties

Under the supervision of the Vice President of Programs & Informatics, the Program Manager (Pediatrics) will directly assist with developing programmatic infrastructure related to pediatric health services; as well as supporting the development and implementation of policies and procedures relevant to managing these populations This position will be instrumental to the administrative management and coordination of Unity’s Pediatric programs including but not limited to: preparation and dissemination of regular program updates, writing and preparing proposals and reports, contracts management, and data monitoring. The Program Manager will interact both with internal team members and external partners and stakeholders, including sub-recipients, consultants, community-based partners, government representatives, and the general community. This position will be an integrated member of Unity’s Pediatric team.

Qualifications

Two (2) years of professional program management experience in a community-based health program. Experience with grant writing and program evaluation a plus.
Master’s Degree (Public Health or Health Care Administration, preferred) from an accredited college or university in a related field of study OR an equivalent combination of education and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities deemed sufficient to prepare the applicant to successfully perform the duties of the position.

Strong understanding of the concepts and practices associated with effective program management
High degree of customer service skills and philosophy to include professionalism, responsiveness, and follow-through
Maintains a high level of ethical conduct regarding confidentiality, relationships, and professional stature
Handle multiple tasks effectively to meet deadlines and strong organizational skills and attention to detail
Demonstrated ability to show a high degree of initiative and proactive planning and learning
Demonstrated ability to work with a multi-cultural and multidisciplinary team
Strong ability to effectively use technology and computer applications such as Microsoft Office Suite
Ability to analyze and systematically compile technical and statistical information and to prepare reports and correspondence; comprehend and make inferences from written material; interpret federal, state, and local gove
