About the organization

The National Democratic Institute (NDI) is working globally to build the power and influence of activists campaigning for the equal rights of all people and seeks a Program Manager to join its Citizen Participation and Inclusion team in providing financial and technical assistance to marginalized populations in more than 50 countries. The Program Manager will report to the Program Director and work alongside other team members.

Duties

Program Manager: Citizen Participation and Inclusion

Essential Accountabilities/Responsibilities

• Lead the development of detailed work plans regarding the direction of a global small grants program supporting disabled persons organizations to ensure achievement of program objectives and expected outcomes, including the establishment of actions to be taken, the required resources (time, funding, staffing, etc.), a schedule/timeline for the actions required, and specific measures/metrics for evaluation at completion.
• Under guidance from the Program Director, takes the lead in the oversight of small grants disbursed to grassroots organizations representing people with disabilities
• Provides support in the oversight of small grants to organizations representing additional marginalized populations, including LGBTQI communities and ethnic and religious minorities

Required Qualifications

Education

• Bachelor's degree, preferably in International Relations, Political Science or a related field, or equivalent experience. Graduate degree in a similar discipline preferred.

Experience

• Five (5) years of relevant work experience in international-development, community organizing, political campaigns, or legislative affairs, or a similar field, including experience in program strategy and design. An advanced degree or work towards one in a relevant discipline may be substituted for required years of experience on a one-for-one basis.
