Peace Through Action USA is missioned to achieve peace between people and within communities in the United States of America by promoting caring action. We activate and equip Americans to implement practical peaceful solutions to aggression and violence in their communities and our country. Our mission activities contribute to the advancement of a nation abundant with peaceful people applying peaceful practices and creating peaceful places. Peace Through Action USA is a national-scope, charitable, tax-exempt, civic and social capital-building organization.


The peace agent is responsible for organizing and delivering a civic and social engagement project for youth and adults in Calvert County, Maryland. The Calvert County Peace Project will equip county residents, workers, and visitors for effective citizenship and neighborliness by preparing and activating them for roles in their community as engaged civic advocates, skilled peacebuilders, and committed servants.

The peace agent contributes to the design of the project’s civic engagement, peaceful practices skills-building, and cooperative volunteering activities; plans, delivers, and arranges the delivery of activities; recruits participants into the activities; and promotes opportunities for community members to support the project.


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Requirements

How to plan projects and activities.
How to identify community members and organizations for engagement in a project or activities.
Familiarity with communications channels for reaching community members.

Facilitate group learning and decision-making activities.
Speak with confidence interpersonally and before small groups.
Write high-quality communications of various types.

Practice diplomacy with community members diverse in background and personality.
Persuade others to take personal action or join group efforts.
Produce creative suggestions and solutions.
Adapt to changing objectives and circumstances.

Experience Requirements
Delivered training on any topic to any type audience.
Staffed or participated as a member of a decision-making group of any type.
Amateur or higher level proficiency in photography, audio recording, and/or video recording.

Education Requirements
Bachelor degree or higher preferred.
Minimum education requirement is high school diploma, provided the person has at least 10 years experience in community engagement or organizing as well.

Credentials Requirements
Valid driver license.
Proof of personal auto insurance.


Wage between $25.65 and $28.20 per hour
