About the organization
Negotiation Works is a Washington, DC-based nonprofit organization that provides negotiation and self-advocacy training for people who are emerging from difficult and often traumatic situations–such as incarceration, homelessness, addiction, and domestic violence–so they develop the skills to navigate everyday challenges and live the next chapters in their lives confidently and productively. By negotiation strategies we mean communication and persuasion tools for: (a) engaging in self-advocacy in situations such as obtaining needed services or arranging a workable job schedule and (b) resolving disputes and everyday conflicts involving work, housing, family, and other situations. Our core services involve multi-week, interactive negotiation courses for historically marginalized individuals in the Washington, DC area.
Negotiation Works (NW) is seeking a Partnerships and Communications Manager who is passionate about the NW mission and has strong relationship building experience and exceptional communication skills. NW is searching for a thoughtful and strategic partner to join the organization in a brand new leadership role. Reporting to the Executive Director, the Partnerships and Communications Manager will be an integral part of the NW team and will support the Executive Director in advancing the mission and values of the organization.
Partnership Management (60%)
*Maintain ongoing relationships with all program partners to ensure the consistent delivery of programs and services
*Monitor and manage all aspects of partnerships, including contracts, MOUs, schedules, volunteer requirements, and program content and logistics
*Coordinate instructor staffing for each course
*Identify and cultivate relationships with new partners for program delivery
*Manage collaborations with peer organizations
*Oversee administration functions pertaining to NW partners and programs
*Develop, create, and edit communication materials, including newsletters, digital content, and constituency communications regarding programs, impact, volunteers, fundraising, etc.
*Develop social media content and graphics and manage social media calendar; track relevant special days and holidays to highlight on NW’s social media platforms
*Manage all SM programs including Hootsuite
We are looking for candidates local to the Washington, DC metro area who, based on their life experiences, education, and/or employment background, have the following skills:
Exhibit strong critical thinking and problem solving abilities: Adapt to the evolving needs of the organization and think several steps ahead to develop solutions that achieve clear goals.
Manage a high volume of work with efficiency and attention to detail: Can create and follow systems for keeping tasks from slipping through the cracks.
Build authentic, reliable relationships: Demonstrate enthusiasm for meeting and engaging with people. Empathize with the communities we serve. Build genuine relationships across lines of difference, such as race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, class, ability, gender identity, citizenship status, life experience, or other identities. Follow through on commitments.
Exhibit mastery of communications strategies: Develop mission-driven plans to reach target audiences and achieve results. Demonstrated track record of success in digital skills, persuasive writing, and web/social media engagement.
Produce compelling written, graphic, and digital materials: Incorporate our “voice” across platforms.
Technical skills: Proficiency in using Google Suite (Docs, Slides, Sheets, Forms, and G-Cal), Zoom, Canva, Mailchimp, and Hootsuite preferred.
Comfortable working both independently/remotely and in regular consultation and collaboration with a small team.
