Partner Capacity VISTA

Feeding Texas

About the organization

Feeding Texas leads a unified effort for a hunger-free Texas. We assist hungry Texans through a statewide network of twenty-one food banks, lead the public discussion on hunger in Texas, and strengthen the anti-hunger movement through collaboration and capacity-building. The Community Capacity Corps is made up of a creative and motivated team focused on alleviating the upstream, economic causes of hunger as well as the downstream effects of hunger on health. VISTAs build non-traditional partnerships to increase community access to new services, and strategically incorporate the voices of hungry Texans into the public conversation on hunger through community engagement. With ample coaching and personal development opportunities, our corps offers emerging non-profit professionals a way to gain a level of experience above other entry-level positions. Collaborate with other VISTAs and non-profit professionals in a variety of positions, while building a foundation for a meaningful career.

Duties

As the Partner Capacity VISTA, you will work with the Houston Food Bank’s (HFB) Partner Capacity Team to research, analyze, and develop a process to profile and segment each member of the HFB partner network through community immersion and evaluation of over 300+ partner network. The projected findings of the VISTA project will help HFB, and the partner network, to cultivate and strengthen our collective community impact. The VISTA will engage the partner network to research and analyze the strengths and opportunities for growth of the partner network through community immersion, focus groups, meetings with other food banks, and other HFB departments. The research and analyzation of the partner network will lead to designing a sustainable and efficient profiling and segmentation process. The goal of the profiling and segmentation process is to lead to more partner collaboration within HFB departments, recognize the unique and changing needs of the partner network, develop processes that benefit the partner network, and guide the evolving strategic efforts at HFB. All Community Capacity Corps VISTAs will also engage community members through one-on-one interviews to gather stories for a statewide StoryBank with a focus on learning about the authentic lives of people experiencing food insecurity and presenting the truth of hunger in our community to a public audience.
