About the organization

The Literacy KC VISTA Program seeks to address illiteracy through a concentration on traditional literacy as well as health literacy, financial literacy, and digital literacy. The VISTA members and organizations that participate in the Literacy KC VISTA Program take a holistic, collaborative approach to literacy, building the organizations’ capacity to serve their clients, and addressing poverty in the Kansas City metropolitan area.


This VISTA member will work to increase community partnerships, outreach, and program visibility. This position manages department social media outlets and community outreach efforts, recruits and manages volunteers, coordinates with department staff and community to develop parent engagement curriculum, and identifies and applies for related grant funding. Begins August 2019.


Candidates must be 18 or older and pass a background check.


Bi-Weekly Living Allowance, with End-Of-Service Award.
