About the organization

Join our team of 16 AmeriCorps VISTAs (Volunteers in Service to America) on the beautiful South Cumberland Plateau in Tennessee! Our VISTAs work to alleviate poverty by building capacity within community organizations that address issues of health, education, and economic development. Our VISTAs work in a variety of capacities including grant writing, fundraising, community organizing, and volunteer recruitment. Each of our positions offers the unique opportunity to work in a rural, economically depressed region of Tennessee. Through a partnership with South Cumberland Community Fund and the University of the South (Sewanee), the South Cumberland Plateau VISTA Project (SCPVP) provides training to enhance each VISTA member’s personal and professional development. This VISTA program is team focused, providing group programming, support, and social opportunities for each VISTA. Make a difference! Help us improve our South Cumberland Plateau communities.

Duties

The VISTA serving with the Prevention Coalition will focus on addressing the opioid crisis in Winchester, TN and surrounding areas by strengthening the agency’s ability to decrease overdose rates, as well as the non-medical access to prescription opioids in the Winchester, TN area. The VISTA member will build on existing partnerships with local and regional agencies to enhance opioid prevention efforts. Additionally, the VISTA will build systems to reduce overdoses, and expand understanding and options for treatment in a rural environment. Applications accepted until position is filled.
