NeighborWorks America

About the organization

NeighborWorks America partners with the Corporation for National and Community Service to sponsor one of the largest AmeriCorps VISTA (Volunteers in Service to America) programs in the country. Our program fights poverty by building strong and empowered communities. AmeriCorps VISTA provides full-time service members to nonprofit, faith-based, and other community organizations to build that organization’s capacity and create or expand programs that bring low-income individuals and communities out of poverty.

Support VISTA members serving with the NeighborWorks America network in having a successful service year. Provide resources and technical assistance, coordinate professional development opportunities, and offer peer mentorship to VISTA members located at subsites across the country. Welcome VISTA members at the start of their service and provide them with critical tools, resources, and support. Throughout the service year engage with NeighborWorks America staff, subsite supervisors and VISTA members to deliver ongoing technical support and training opportunities. Organize and facilitate webinar presentations and Subject Matter Expert webinars, coordinate in-person and virtual networking activities, and deliver resources and support to VISTA members and subsites as necessary. Understand and communicate the rules and regulations of VISTA to members and subsites and coach VISTA members, as needed providing professional and personal support through check-in calls and responding to VISTA member concerns.

The VISTA Leader will also support general NeighborWorks VISTA Program administration and provide recommendations on best practices and improving the VISTA member experience. Conduct site visits and provide technical assistance, collect progress reports, compile data, and synthesize report information to ensure adherence to program guidelines and measure the program’s impact. Support program improvements that will help integrate REDI (Race Equity, Diversity and Inclusion).

VISTA Leaders are VISTA members who have already successfully completed at least one full term with AmeriCorps VISTA, State and National, NCCC, or Peace Corps and are looking to serve another year of service in a greater leadership capacity.
