About the organization

NAMI Juneau is the local affiliate of the nation’s largest grassroots mental health organization, the National Alliance on Mental Illness. NAMI Juneau’s mission is to provide education, support, advocacy, and public awareness to help individuals affected by mental health conditions build better lives.


The Program Coordinator oversees and coordinates a variety of mental health education and support programs for individuals affected by mental health conditions and supports the organization’s public awareness initiatives. The Program Coordinator reports to the NAMI Juneau Executive Director and works closely with staff and volunteers.

The NAMI Juneau program coordinator is responsible for organizing and marketing NAMI support groups, trainings and classes while also implementing new outreach activities to promote mental wellness in Juneau.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
• Experience with non-profit coordination and/or a deep commitment to working with and on behalf of those who live with mental health conditions and their loved ones.
• Action-oriented, organized, and ready to take initiative on new and existing projects.
• Ability to work both as a team member and independently.
• Commitment to social justice, equity and service to others.
• Strong interpersonal and written communication skills, particularly in marketing programs.
• Ability to maintain strict confidentiality with sensitive information.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, cloud computing, and social media platforms.
• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field or related experience.

• Current driver’s license and auto insurance.
• Clearance of state and federal background checks.
• Willingness to work occasional evenings and weekends.

Relocation assistance of up to $1,000 is available for selected candidates.

NAMI Juneau relies on grant funds. The Program Coordinator position is fully funded through June 30, 2022 and we anticipate continued funding thereafter.
