Internews seeks a Senior Media Advisor (SMA) for ongoing USAID-funded civil society and media support programs in Mynmar. The SMA is responsible for capacity building of Myanmar media partners, in all areas of media and information ecosystems development from journalism training and content production to business development and management. The Senior Media Advisor reports to the country Director in the systematic execution of the relevant project activities, monitoring and evaluation, and reporting in order to meet project objectives. The SMA will be delegated other management responsibilities by the Country Director as appropriate, including working closely with partner organizations, staff performance management, project management and senior representation roles.

Experience managing USG-funded media projects in complex development environments, preferably in South East Asia;
Minimum of 5 year's news management experience;
Experience in journalism training and production;
Experience working with Myanmar media, preferably in-country;
Strong critical thinking and writing skills; excellent communication skills;
Experience creating and managing budgets - subgrants management experience a plus;
Significant ability to analyze and interpret media trends;
Thorough understanding of the technical, political and social issues specific to Myanmar;
International experience training and mentoring journalists or journalists or journalism students, as well as in developing training curriculum;
Proven interpersonal and networking skills with international organizations and donors;
Team-building skills and the ability to manage a diverse staff.
