About the organization

Montana Campus Compact advances the public purposes of colleges and universities by deepening their ability to improve community life and to educate students for civic and social responsibility. Our organization is an independent affiliate of Campus Compact, a national coalition of college and university presidents dedicated to promoting civic and community engagement, public service, and service-learning in higher education. Our current membership includes Montana's two-year, four-year, public, private, tribal, and community colleges and universities, as well as a network office located in Missoula, hosted by the University of Montana. MTCC hosts an AmeriCorps program (College Coaches) and an AmeriCorps VISTA program that support its mission and work.

Duties

The AmeriCorps College Coach will create, coordinate, and implement activities, and maintain student attendance records to monitor success in meeting participation benchmarks and success indicators. The member will increase participation in established college and career preparation activities, implement new activities along career learning continuums, and provide academic support and mentorship. They will assist students in selecting and pursuing an academic/career pathway and creating a personal portfolio to highlight participation and success. Qualifications

Salish Kootenai College aspires to be the pre-eminent educational center of excellence for American Indian Students, grounded in the cultures of the Séliš, Ksanka and QÍispé people of the Flathead Nation. The college will empower students to improve the lives of their families and communities through research, leadership and service. College and career pathways is a preparatory program for middle and high school Native youth. The program serves students on the Flathead Indian Reservation.
