About the organization
Montana Campus Compact advances the public purposes of colleges and universities by deepening their ability to improve community life and to educate students for civic and social responsibility. Our organization is an independent affiliate of Campus Compact, a national coalition of college and university presidents dedicated to promoting civic and community engagement, public service, and service-learning in higher education. Our current membership includes Montana's two-year, four-year, public, private, tribal, and community colleges and universities, as well as a network office located in Missoula, hosted by the University of Montana. MTCC hosts an AmeriCorps program (College Coaches) and an AmeriCorps VISTA program that support its mission and work.
Duties

Mentor underserved high school students by addressing educational equity and utilizing a learner-centered instructional approach of project-based learning because learners build new knowledge from existing knowledge structures through social educational experiences and interactions. The member will support the school and the Poplar community with cultural and community service projects and engage others in service. They will mentor and support low-income and first-generation youth that are enrolled in Poplar High School. The member will execute events that assist students in preparing for and/or submitting FAFSA, scholarship, and college applications. The member will also support ACT preparation, resume creation, and college visits. The member will communicate with interested collaborators in creating opportunities that promote college going. Qualifications
Poplar High School is in the rural community of Poplar, Montana, on the Fort Peck Nation. The mission of Poplar Schools is to educate all students in academics and the social skills necessary for success. Our staff in cooperation with families and community will teach a challenging and culturally enriched curriculum in a safe, creative environment.
