About the organization

Mosaic in Action seeks to improve the lives of Brazoria County residents by working towards safe, sanitary and secure homes for all. We are a volunteer-driven organization, improving our community’s health and wellbeing through the repair of substandard housing. Three years ago, Hurricane Harvey devastated this region, and Mosaic in Action quickly went to work repairing and rebuilding homes using volunteer labor and AmeriCorps NCCC teams. Many of these homes were in poor condition prior to Harvey’s destruction. Now that storm recovery work is nearing completion, Mosaic in Action is reorganizing to tackle non-storm related housing issues. Located between bustling Houston and the Gulf coast, Brazoria is a diverse county. While northern urban areas like Pearland are prosperous, this is in marked contrast to the more rural parts of the county, where some residents live in food deserts and without public utilities. Duties

The Communications VISTA will present Mosaic in Action’s (MiA) mission & activities in varied formats, from social & web-based media packages, to print newsletters & promotional materials. The VISTA will help formulate & develop a marketing & communications strategy and spend time gleaning stories & material for case studies from staff, volunteers, community partners and clients. Creative marketing approaches are encouraged! Mosaic in Action strives towards building strong community relationships & the VISTA will be at the heart of relationship-building. Effectively communicating the progress of our housing rebuild & repair work for our community, and for our donors and volunteers, to see the direct impact of their contributions. Mosaic in Action believes that a safe, sanitary and secure home is the foundation of every individual & family’s life together.
