About the organization

The vision of the Violence Prevention AmeriCorps VISTA will be to build capacity to prevent sexual violence in the Kansas City community. The VISTA will engage community partners in a planning effort to develop a community-level violence prevention plan. The VISTA will be engaged in participating in local committees/coalitions, developing prevention strategies such as Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design, and developing program evaluation and sustainability plans.


The AmeriCorps VISTA will engage community partners in the development of a community-level violence prevention plan. Activities include assisting MOCSA with a needs assessment to determine the best strategies to include in the violence prevention plan; learning about various community-level violence prevention strategies for inclusion in the plan, and engaging community partners to help with plan development. This position will also help with identifying evaluation indicators for the plan and identifying resources for plan sustainability.


Must be 18 years or older, legally able to work in the U.S., and pass a background check


$1000 a month
